Underarm detox mask, and why that's a real thing

Updated: Jun 5, 2020

Blood tests have shown that many deodorants contain undesirable substances that can work past your skin, and into your body. Your underarm tissue contains hormone receptors, which can react to deodorant ingredients. Researchers say these could cause or contribute to cancer and reproductive issues.

Triclosan, Phthalates, Aluminum, and Parabens are all substances used in our deodorants. We wouldn't put any of that in our mouths, so why are we so blindly rubbing it onto our bodies?

My suggestion, switch to an all natural deodorant.

But what about the all of the years that we've been coating our underarms in harmful ingredients?

Underarm Detox Mask

  • 2 tablespoons of bentonite clay

  • 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar

  • 1 tablespoon of green tea

Mix all ingredients together in a glass or ceramic bowl using a plastic or wooden spoon. Always avoid metal when using bentonite clay because it affects it's properties and effectiveness.

This will form a paste. Spread it under your arms and leave it on for up to 15 minutes. If you have sensitive skin, start with less time.

Tip- when using apple cider vinegar, be sure to get one that contains "The Mother". Without it, the vinegar has been filtered and most of its nutrients have been removed. I recommend Bragg's Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.

You can play around with this mask by adding rose water or essential oils, just make sure to get that paste like consistency.

Have you detoxed your underarms? Switched to a natural deodorant? Tell me about it!
