Whether you have blonde locks or blonde highlights, there are a ton of reasons that your color turns dull or brassy over time. Your water, the products you are using, and even the sun, are known for being the biggest contributors in the need for regular touch-ups and toning.
Who has time for that?
Now for the science. Yellow and Purple are opposite of each other on the color wheel. When combined, the neutralize each other. This results in cool and brighter tones.
Now, clearly I'm a believer. But not all purple shampoos are created equally. I've tried a ton of different brands and I've found that you really need one that is highly pigmented in order to see a difference at all. After factoring in other things like the smell, price, and the way it makes my hair feel (some purple shampoos can be very drying), I have 2 that I truly recommend.
Fanola No Yellow Shampoo is my absolute go to. I decided to order it after reading the thousands of great reviews on Amazon.
It's so incredibly strong and pigmented that if I'm not careful, my hands are stained purple and the lightest parts of my hair will turn silver. Sometimes I'm into that, and other times I'm not, so I just adjust the time that I leave it on and play around with the placement, and I'm never disappointed.
Not your Mother's is another brand that I truly stand by. Although they are a drugstore product, I've been really happy with the results from everything of theirs that I've tried, including their purple shampoo which has been perfectly named Blonde Moment. This shampoo is not nearly as strong as the Fanola, I've never experienced stained hands or over-toned hair while using it.
Now, give it a try for yourself and let me know how it goes!
